Kasen 花仙 — Samidori Ultra-Premium Ceremonial Matcha
Hand-Picked | Single Cultivar | First Harvest | Shade-Grown | Stone-Ground
Discover Kasen — the pure expression of Samidori, one of Uji’s most celebrated cultivars. This ultra-premium ceremonial matcha is made exclusively from first harvest, hand-picked leaves cultivated under 30+ days of shade to concentrate amino acids and produce extraordinary depth.
Stone-milled in micro-lots by the legendary Hiroshi, Uji’s only Judan Chashi (Level 10 Tea Master) and one of fewer than ~15 such masters in all of Japan, Kasen represents a standard of excellence rarely achieved. His family has been producing tea in Uji since 1827, and his unmatched sensory mastery brings Samidori’s natural sweetness, creaminess, and luminosity into perfect harmony.
Kasen is exceptionally rare and near the very top of our range — an unparalleled matcha just short of true competition grade, crafted by one of Japan's most respected artisans.
Flavor: Deep Umami · Marzipan · Sweet Cream, with almond undertones
Texture: Creamy, velvety, smooth finish
Color: Vivid jade green
Kasen (花仙) joins the characters for flower and sen, the immortal sages of East Asian legend — together, a flower spirit. It suits a matcha of rare grace and sweetness: delicate on the surface, with a depth that feels almost otherworldly.
Grown in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, on a historic family estate established in 1827, this Samidori is produced by Hiroshi — Uji’s only Level 10 Tea Master (Judan Chashi). His precision in field management, shading, and steaming elevates Samidori to its purest form.
By harvesting once each year and selecting only the softest spring growth, Hiroshi ensures Kasen reflects the pinnacle of Uji craftsmanship: sweet, vibrant, and impossibly smooth.
Koicha (Thick Tea): Knead 1.5–2 tsp with 1–1.5 oz water at 160–170°F using slow, deliberate strokes to unlock its rich umami and creamy sweetness.
Samidori is one of Uji’s most revered cultivars, developed specifically for high-grade ceremonial use. Naturally sweet, umami-rich, and low in bitterness, it produces a shimmering green cup with extraordinary smoothness.
This is matcha at its peak — pure, potent, and unforgettable.
Kasen is produced in extremely limited quantities by one of Japan’s most sought-after tea artisans and sells out quickly.
