How to Make Koicha (Thick Tea)

Koicha (Thick Matcha)

Ingredients

  • 1.5-2 teaspoons (3-4g) premium ceremonial matcha
  • 1-1.5 oz (30-45ml) hot water (160–170°F / 70–75°C)

Instructions

  1. Boil water Heat water to about 160–170°F (70–75°C).
  2. Sift matcha Sift the matcha into a warm tea bowl.
  3. Pour water Add hot water slowly.
  4. Knead matcha Gently knead using the chasen in slow, circular motions. Do not whisk. The result should be thick, smooth, and glossy.
  5. Enjoy Koicha Sip and savor the richness.
