How to Make Usucha (Thin Tea)

Traditional Matcha

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon (2g) high-quality matcha powder
  • 2 oz (60ml) hot water (175°F / 80°C)

Instructions

  1. Boil water Boil water and let it cool for about 5 minutes until it reaches 175°F (80°C).
  2. Sift matcha Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove clumps.
  3. Pour water Pour in the hot water.
  4. Whisk matcha Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), whisk in a zigzag motion until the tea becomes frothy.
  5. Enjoy Enjoy immediately!
Tip: Avoid using boiling water, as it can make the matcha taste bitter.
